Hymen myths busted

Recently, I came across this TEDx Talk on 'Hymen myths' and I felt responsible enough to share it with you all, considering this talk to be helpful for improving our understanding of Women's virginity. So many cultures around the world glorify virgin women and their sexuality is controlled around some traditional myths like they should bleed during first intercourse, Hymen is like a vaginal covering which needs to to broken if something has to enter in etc. etc.  This video will shatter your ideas about virginity and tests done (even today) to ensure it. If you want to know whether a woman is virgin or not, ask her and let the response be her choice.  Watch this video. Also share your views in the comment section.

Cup Periods.. Best Periods

periods for me meant discomfort unless I started using menstrual cups. I had read about menstrual cups while campaigning against taboos related to menstruation but never tried to inquire more about them, considering that this might be a special product used by athletes. On Jagriti Yatra during our visit in Banglore, I visited stall of Boondh and that was the first time I was able to know more about cups and how any girl/woman can switch from plastic sanitary pads to cups. The eco-friendly reasons led me towards thinking about this product but the fear of inserting something in my vagina didn't allow me to buy it on that occasion. Few days later after Yatra, I got a call from a very popular Doctor and social activist of our city, also my mentor for campaigning against menstrual taboos, Dr Ami Yagnik and she was very keen to promote the idea of using menstrual cups among the Surti women. I immediately resonated with her idea and we decided on starting our campaigns to promote menst...

My Favorite Film Critic: Sucharita Tyagi

I invest my time in movies only after reading and viewing reviews on internet. Anupama Chopra, I think is the most loved film critic of the whole lot mostly because her videos are more like English lessons. No wonder if you are watching her with a dictionary in your hand. Since so many years she is doing the same job of reviewing movies, I find her criticizing even the good movies which later when I watch them on my laptop, I conclude, 'No movie should be judged by its review by a film critic'.  Anyway, as I can't do anything for my compulsive habit of studying reviews first and then going for movies, I follow Anupama's youtube channel, 'Film Companion'. I really wait for her video to find out what she has to say about the newly released movies. Apart from film reviews, she does very interesting interviews with the peers of the film industry and that's one more reason for following Anupama Chopra. Well well Sucharita Tyagi is one such film critic whom I re...

My recent discovery in world of journalism: Vinod Dua

After Arnab Goswami left Times Now, I really started feeling the void and didn't knew what to depend on to get insights of important issues affecting our country. Moreover towards the end of Arnab's term, I felt that he lost his perception towards politicians and the debates seemed quite biased. But I am eagerly waiting for his comeback. So meanwhile I am exploring different news and debate platforms. To my surprise these days comedy has lot to offer. The stand-up comedians of our country are awesome and have taken comedy as a medium to express their views. Only thing that they use fowl language sometimes to make their piece of art palatable, doesn't appeals to me. While watching one such comedy show of Mallika Dua, I came to know about her background that her father is a popular journalist, Vinod Dua. I searched for him on google and found that he has a youtube channel, 'The Wire' to present true news with help of short videos. I watched some of his videos and ...

Bholi Maya -1

Since childhood I have been tagged as 'bholi' (gullible). According to my parents it is very easy to fool me and take advantage of me. While growing up my mum used to take all updates from school and play to ensure that I am not hanging out with spoiled kids as it was very easy to influence me. I hated the fact that they considered me gullible but later on in life I realized that their observation had some trace of truth. Its my nature that I trust people and believe what they say or express. this trait of mine has put me in trouble a lot of times infact over the years I have learnt to cross examine people and situations but yet sometimes I get trapped. I would like to share with you all a recent incidence which was an eyeopener for me. I really need to work on controlling my nature of trusting people. I was Jagriti Yatra 2016 participant and during the journey we were told that we might get a call from the sponsors of our yatra to know our experience on the train and ...

Don't you dare stop!

Dare to climb the highest of the peaks, But don't you dare look down even when you have bleeding feet! Dare to plunge in the deepest of the seas, But don't you dare let anything coerce you to flee! Dare to smile and laugh and whirl all around But don't you dare roll a single tear that makes you feel down! Dare to live your life with dreams desires and love, But don't you dare dither a slight to abhor who holds you back! Dare to surmise you are the universe, And don't you dare take a bit lesser than you deserve! The week has just started and we all need a motivation boost. Khushboo Shah is back on 'Heartbits' with this motivational poem telling us not to give up in fact not even dare to give up. Don't stop keep moving. Have a great week ahead
