A letter to my unmarried self.

Hello Mimansa, It's Feb 2022 on this side and I am writing to you in 2017, I just want to let you know a few things before you plan your wedding with that cute guy you are dating these days. I know you are pretty serious about him and he also wants to take the relationship to another level but before you freeze the dates, Please read below. Postpone marriage: Just because the weddings are very exciting, Don't simply jump into this commitment. Build yourself first. Design the life of your choice. Explore your potential to the fullest. Establish yourself to an extent that later on, you don't have to alter your choices as per circumstances. Till you don't find yourself at this stage postpone the big day. Believe me, you will thank me. Understand marriages generally are not equal: In Indian households, a woman's role is prominent. Women do chores as their 'duty' and men seldom contribute to chores as 'help'. In no time will your career become secondary, ...

How Motherhood changed me as a person

I remember, as a child I always wanted to be a mother. I loved mothering my dolls just like how my mother took care of me. Moreover My mother had very powerful influence in my life. Honestly she was the only one who took whole lot of efforts in my upbringing. I have seen her in that process. Believe me, in those days I remember she was like a lioness and would go to any extent to protect me. She was a young lady who got her education and was building her own life. God knows from where she got so much strength and courage to cope with challenges that life threw at her. She had absolutely no support with chores or finances to raise a baby but she did everything on her own. Certainly I admired her the most and wondered whether motherhood can change people. In short there was this hidden calling in me to embark the journey of motherhood, to experience the nature's great plan (reproduction). On 5th July 2021, We were blessed with a baby boy and since then life has changed in all sorts o...

Three baby products I swear by

Hello Mommies,  let me take this opportunity to share with you three baby products I can't do without. Also I must tell you using these products make my life so easy. Hoping that this will help you also.  1. Luvlap breast milk pump : I went back to work when my baby was five and half months old. Ladies at my office keep asking me about how his feeds are managed in my absence. I tell them that I use a manual pump which really surprises them. Next question arises about shelf life of pumped breast milk. They think that pumped breast milk will go stale in few minutes. But reality is that breast milk can last 6 hours without refrigerating and 24 hours in refrigerator. In deep freeze breast milk can last for 1 month. So chuck all these myths use a pump to manage baby's feeds in your absence so that you can go to your work carefree about baby's nutritional needs.  If you are short on time and don't want to use manual pump check out  electric pump as well. Both the p...

Get set, GO!

Being rude is not a choice. Being impatient is not a choice. Being short tempered is not a choice. Being resentful is not a choice. Being disgruntled is not a choice. Being misanthrope is definitely not a choice! They ll judge you by your behavior, your actions and more by your words. Let them be! They are not the one who had been through those clueless days and sleepless nights. They are not the one who hid the ocean behind a fake smile. They are not the one who held your hand when you were the most helpless. Don't let them ruin your rainbow which has come after a thunderstorm! I know you hate the world because you deserve the love you could never get! You show rage sometimes because you have forgotten how to show love and care. You don't enjoy the things thoroughly because you're burdened with apprehension. You are hesitant to happiness because you believe that's not your fate! But my dear, The God has not created this beautiful world to make the things sta...

Hymen myths busted

Recently, I came across this TEDx Talk on 'Hymen myths' and I felt responsible enough to share it with you all, considering this talk to be helpful for improving our understanding of Women's virginity. So many cultures around the world glorify virgin women and their sexuality is controlled around some traditional myths like they should bleed during first intercourse, Hymen is like a vaginal covering which needs to to broken if something has to enter in etc. etc.  This video will shatter your ideas about virginity and tests done (even today) to ensure it. If you want to know whether a woman is virgin or not, ask her and let the response be her choice.  Watch this video. Also share your views in the comment section.

Cup Periods.. Best Periods

periods for me meant discomfort unless I started using menstrual cups. I had read about menstrual cups while campaigning against taboos related to menstruation but never tried to inquire more about them, considering that this might be a special product used by athletes. On Jagriti Yatra during our visit in Banglore, I visited stall of Boondh and that was the first time I was able to know more about cups and how any girl/woman can switch from plastic sanitary pads to cups. The eco-friendly reasons led me towards thinking about this product but the fear of inserting something in my vagina didn't allow me to buy it on that occasion. Few days later after Yatra, I got a call from a very popular Doctor and social activist of our city, also my mentor for campaigning against menstrual taboos, Dr Ami Yagnik and she was very keen to promote the idea of using menstrual cups among the Surti women. I immediately resonated with her idea and we decided on starting our campaigns to promote menst...

My Favorite Film Critic: Sucharita Tyagi

I invest my time in movies only after reading and viewing reviews on internet. Anupama Chopra, I think is the most loved film critic of the whole lot mostly because her videos are more like English lessons. No wonder if you are watching her with a dictionary in your hand. Since so many years she is doing the same job of reviewing movies, I find her criticizing even the good movies which later when I watch them on my laptop, I conclude, 'No movie should be judged by its review by a film critic'.  Anyway, as I can't do anything for my compulsive habit of studying reviews first and then going for movies, I follow Anupama's youtube channel, 'Film Companion'. I really wait for her video to find out what she has to say about the newly released movies. Apart from film reviews, she does very interesting interviews with the peers of the film industry and that's one more reason for following Anupama Chopra. Well well Sucharita Tyagi is one such film critic whom I re...

My recent discovery in world of journalism: Vinod Dua

After Arnab Goswami left Times Now, I really started feeling the void and didn't knew what to depend on to get insights of important issues affecting our country. Moreover towards the end of Arnab's term, I felt that he lost his perception towards politicians and the debates seemed quite biased. But I am eagerly waiting for his comeback. So meanwhile I am exploring different news and debate platforms. To my surprise these days comedy has lot to offer. The stand-up comedians of our country are awesome and have taken comedy as a medium to express their views. Only thing that they use fowl language sometimes to make their piece of art palatable, doesn't appeals to me. While watching one such comedy show of Mallika Dua, I came to know about her background that her father is a popular journalist, Vinod Dua. I searched for him on google and found that he has a youtube channel, 'The Wire' to present true news with help of short videos. I watched some of his videos and ...

Bholi Maya -1

Since childhood I have been tagged as 'bholi' (gullible). According to my parents it is very easy to fool me and take advantage of me. While growing up my mum used to take all updates from school and play to ensure that I am not hanging out with spoiled kids as it was very easy to influence me. I hated the fact that they considered me gullible but later on in life I realized that their observation had some trace of truth. Its my nature that I trust people and believe what they say or express. this trait of mine has put me in trouble a lot of times infact over the years I have learnt to cross examine people and situations but yet sometimes I get trapped. I would like to share with you all a recent incidence which was an eyeopener for me. I really need to work on controlling my nature of trusting people. I was Jagriti Yatra 2016 participant and during the journey we were told that we might get a call from the sponsors of our yatra to know our experience on the train and ...

Don't you dare stop!

Dare to climb the highest of the peaks, But don't you dare look down even when you have bleeding feet! Dare to plunge in the deepest of the seas, But don't you dare let anything coerce you to flee! Dare to smile and laugh and whirl all around But don't you dare roll a single tear that makes you feel down! Dare to live your life with dreams desires and love, But don't you dare dither a slight to abhor who holds you back! Dare to surmise you are the universe, And don't you dare take a bit lesser than you deserve! The week has just started and we all need a motivation boost. Khushboo Shah is back on 'Heartbits' with this motivational poem telling us not to give up in fact not even dare to give up. Don't stop keep moving. Have a great week ahead

Remember Abhijeet Sawant? see where I spotted him recently.

Hii friends do you all remember Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of first and most coveted season of Indian Idol? I kept wondering why I never heard his name in these 10 years after he gained popularity by winning Indian Idol. On the show I liked Amit Sana more as a singer but Abhieet had a magical charm. I was in school that time and during the recess girls of my class used to talk about Abhijeet and fantasize him as the love of their lives. Also his song 'Mohabbatein lutaaunga' went so viral, we all memorized that song as some Hindi textbook poem which we might have to recite in oral test.  I couldn't find anything about Amit Sana on Internet but during the search I spotted the recent video of Abhijeet singing Zalima from Raees. Can't believe time flew this fast. Enjoy the video:

The star-lit-jungle date

Himanshu Udeshi Photography After some painful heartbreaks and having enjoyed single-hood to the maximum before and after those energy sucking relationships, I am glad that my hope on love didn't disappoint me. I am with an awesome guy who helped me rebuild faith in relationships and his presence in my life made me realize why it didn't work out with anyone else. With Him, life seems like a beautiful journey full of adventures and we make sure we keep doing new things together to collect as many first-time memories as we can so that our kids may never fall short of stories. Last weekend we both enrolled for night sky photography workshop in the tribal areas of Daang (bhenskatri village) and boy!! I must tell you it was the best date ever!  We went with group of twenty other photographers and astronomy enthusiasts. Interacting with them was great but guess what I had the best company with me, 'Him'. He set up his camera for the best frames and I arranged dinner...

20 minutes

'I'll reach there in 5 minutes' she texted the guy whom she was going to meet that evening. After thinking a lot about many things, she decided to meet this guy who approached her. It has been long since she ever dated. She was excited to meet this person and expected him to be interesting.  She was wearing her favorite outfit, paired up with her favorite accessories and she completed the look with slight fresh looking make-up. She reached on time as she promised. Not witnessing any trace of a waiting guy, her heart sulked. She called him. No reply. Slightly annoyed, she parked her vehicle near the decided meeting spot and sat on the service footpath. While waiting, her mind was flooded with all her past incidents, thinking how people kept her on hold every time. She was an option for those guys. She was still searching for that guy who'll wish to be with her by his choice without any need of begging. 10 minutes later this guy called and informed that he was stuck in ...

Meri 400 Rs ki trip.

Reservations had hardly affected my life until my Amritsar trip got cancelled due to Jat community riots. Me with my other two members of 'M gang of gals' were extremely upset when we got to know that our train was cancelled. Since 3 months we scheduled those 5 days of the trip totally uninvolving so going back to the routine on those 5 days was not at all an appealing idea. We wanted to make those days as exciting as possible but searching for a good destination to visit for a day or two in Gujarat was quite a task. I had slightest idea of visiting Champaner but at the same time I was clueless about the geographical location and means of transport to that place. All thanks to Google baba, in just no time I figured out that there is one train Dehradun exp, which would take us to Champaner Rd. Junction from Surat. That was it. I shared my plan with Mahi and Mitali and they immediately agreed.  And the most adventurous day began  4:45 am on 27th March was the departur...

no pain no gain

February. the month of love. Valentine's day preps have started since beginning of the month. But on 14th Feb not everyone will have that someone special in their lives. Some would be waiting for a right person to cross their path, some would be satisfied and happy with their single status and there would be broken hearts. Breakup is a disease which is rampant these days and believe me it could strike anyone anytime. Relationships are so very fragile. Relationship Gurus have already tagged year 2016 as a bad year for love and how can we neglect the unexpected celebrity breakup stories which we get to read everyday.  I have survived one such unexpected storm in my life so I can connect closely with the enormous amount to pain people go through when splits happen. Yes time heals but memories can never be erased. Life moves on but many a times people don't. Too much pain and heartache is attached to breakups right???  I just want to share few punch lines showing you the brigh...

A strange trip to the City of Dreams

No matter what is your religious orientation, you'll definitely have a Christmas plan. I too had a plan for Christmas 2015. I always wanted to attend the Midnight Mass at a church on Christmas eve. So I and my friend decided to go to Mumbai to attend the same. We were planning this trip before 4 months of Christmas day and we ended up booking tickets for the trip before 2 months. Meanwhile when we were deciding regarding when to go and where to stay during the trip, some other friends showed interest. One of them was my friend's BF and one other couple whom I barely knew showed interest in joining us. I kind of loved the idea of traveling with strangers so we booked tickets for five of us and we made a WhatsApp group for organizing our trip. So our (me and my friend) plan was to have dinner after reaching Mumbai, go to the Church, attend the mass, spend some time around, rest at railway station, board a train in morning to come back home. Then the other group members suggeste...
